How historic meets futuristic...

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it's been such a while, so much to do!

As I generally work in the field of events and marketing, it has been a very busy season.

Fortunately, I've still managed to get lots of writing done - but they're all hand written notes! Thousands and thousands of words...

I don't know about you, but it's always such a chore putting it all into my computer (I know, I know, but I still do enjoy writing by hand - old fashioned me!).

I was lamenting this fact to a colleague one day and they told me of a product that could maybe help.

Well, I've never been much of a 'techie' but have to say I'm pretty chuffed with my new gadget.

It's called an Olin Note Taker (I got it at WC Penfolds) and it's really quite amazing. I just clip a tiny scanner at the top of my note book and just start writing with the pen provided (which also writes in standard ink).

It records up to 100 A4 pages of notes and you just plug the scanner into your computer and it converts it all into word text.

At first, it didn't get some words correct, but I think the software starts to recognise your writing style, but regardless, it was so much better just having to re-edit (which we all do anyway!) than having to type the whole lot in!

It saved me so much time, time better spent writing!

Now I can look my MP3 generation of children in the eye with confidence, knowing that their romance loving, old fashioned mum has finally gone hi-tech!

Til next time...

Wedding Anniversay

Hi Everyone,

Tomorrow, my husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary!

Many people love to joke about it (less time in jail for murder, etc...) but I can honestly say that I don't regret it for a second.

In fact, we were looking at photos today and can't believe just how fast the time has gone.

Kids have grown up, friends have come and gone, and some loved ones have passed on.

I am very fortunate to have a husband who still looks at me as thought I'm 21 (yes, he will be needing glasses soon!) and has a romantic streak a hundred miles wide.

Not to say that he's perfect, but what romance is? All good stories need an element of conflict between couples - just to keep things interesting.

And, with me, he never has a dull moment!

Until next time, take care.

RWA Conference

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from Melbourne and the Romance Writers Conference.

What a fabulous time!

I had the pleasure of meeting many famous writers, but best of all, I got the chance to meet my long suffering critique partner Gail Symmonds (check out her website!) and many other talented writers from all over Australia.

You couldn't hope for a more supportive and dedicated group of people.

I'm very pleased and excited to say that I went for an editor pitch with a terrific publishing company, which resulted in a request for my material.

The manuscript is a historical romance (of course) set in the 1850's!

I'm currently working on my website so I can post a blurb, etc, of the story for you.

In the meantime i'm busy working on my other titles (six of them so far...and more to come!)

Until Next time....

Erin xo
